Stampede Plays Role In Charity Game

The varsity and junior varsity divisions of the Oakdale Stampede Youth Football team played contests at Modesto Christian High on Nov. 10 in a fundraiser effort to donate all proceeds to the family of Jayden Thomas, who was tragically killed in an auto accident after leaving a youth football game in Manteca. The Modesto Broncos donated the use of their field and snack bar for the two games. A bake sale, silent auction, T-shirt sales and donation jars also accumulated funds for the family.

Musical Entertainment Due At Sierra View Fest

Hensley/ Menge Earn Coveted Spot Among Elite Crew

In March, SMART Exemplary Educators were invited to attend the 2014 SMART Summit to be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from July 20-26. There was a written, as well as video portion to the application. The 2 minute video was on the applicant's "SMART Breakthrough Moment" and was posted on social media sites for public voting. In mid Spring the two educators were among the 76 notified from 17 countries that they were selected for the all expense paid, week long trip. Council Kept Out Of Loop On FAA Complaint

Despite airport items on recent agendas, the Oakdale Mayor and City Council claim they were not advised of an April complaint letter from the Federal Aviation Administration and the city's May 5 response letter. Some of the agenda items approved by the council even included a quarterly street sweeping contract and $16,000 lighting upgrade to bring the airport up to standards addressed in the complaint.

FAA Investigating Complaints About Airport

The Federal Aviation Administration San Francisco Airports District Office has informed the City of Oakdale it has received complaints that the Laughlin Road airport may be violating portions of its grants assurances sections as it applies to the condition and operation of the facility.
