Hutton Stages ‘Wax Museum’

Next up at Hutton's Hamlet will be a performance of "Night at the Wax Museum" on Friday and Saturday, July 7 and 8. Six students who have flunked history retake the class in summer school, and set up a new wax museum as a class project. A mysterious incantation from the back of Cleopatra's bracelet by one of the students brings the wax figures to life.

Angry Birds Craft Project A Smash At Library

This past Thursday, nearly 50 kids packed the Oakdale Library for a craft activity, Design Your Fun. While the temperature outside climbed into the triple digits, the Oakdale Library, which serves as a designated cooling center, was the perfect spot for kids to come to and enjoy an afternoon of fun crafts.

SBA Tops $10 Million In Disaster Assistance

Regional Administrator Michael Vallante of the U.S. Small Business Administration announced this past week that SBA has approved more than $10 million in federal disaster loans for California businesses and residents impacted by severe storms and flooding that occurred Feb. 1 through 25, 2017. According to Vallante, SBA has approved $4,738,800 for businesses and $5,283,300 for residents to help rebuild and recover from this disaster.

The lengthy string of triple-digit days over the past couple of weeks saw local residents step up to assist the Oakdale Library, 151 S. First Ave., which is a designated Stanislaus County Cooling Center. Library staffer Jana Ciccarelli shows the donations of cases of water, some fresh fruit and granola bars and other snacks that were brought in by residents. County Fee Rate Hike

Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder, Lee Lundrigan, announced effective July 1, 2017 the real property copy fee to obtain the first page of a recorded property document has been set at $6.75 for the first page and $3.00 for each subsequent page. The new fee for producing copies of official records is authorized under Government Code Section 27366 and Stanislaus County Ordinance C.S. 1191.

Six Mosquito Samples Positive For West Nile

The East Side and Turlock Mosquito Abatement Districts (MADs) confirmed the detection of West Nile Virus (WNV) in six mosquito samples from Stanislaus County. This is the first detection of WNV for both Districts in 2017. As of June 22, WNV has been detected in 14 California counties with the WNV activity confirmed in two humans, 25 dead birds, and 157 mosquito samples. There have been no WNV human cases or dead birds from Stanislaus County.
