Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

Oakdale Police took a man into custody Monday night, Dec. 19 after he beat, choked, and threatened to kill his fiancee for attempting to leave him after repeated incidents of abuse that escalated into a frenzied attack that left the victim suffering from injuries severe enough to send her to the hospital. After subduing the 23-year-old man with a Taser blast, police found a loaded 40-caliber handgun in his bedroom. See the Wednesday, Dec. 21 issue of The Oakdale Leader for the full story.

MID Schedules Outages To Repair Switch Line

As a reminder, Modesto Irrigation District gave notice to customers in the Oakdale area that there will be a scheduled outage, Sunday, Dec. 18 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The reason for the outage is so MID can replace a bad switch in their lines supplying power to Oakdale. The outage will affect the industrial area near ConAgra, Sconza, Ball Metal Food and Household as well as 1,200 residential customers.

OID Board Selects Officers

The Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors selected its new officers for 2012 at the Dec. 6 regular meeting. Director Frank Clark will serve as board president, Steve Webb will serve as vice president, OID General Manager Steve Knell will serve as board secretary, and OID Chief Financial Officer Kathy Cook will serve as treasurer.

Infant Found Deceased In Waterford Trash Can

On Thursday evening, Dec. 1 at 9:22 p.m. Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Bait Barn located at 12505 Yosemite Blvd in Waterford, for an infant found in a garbage can. Fire personnel immediately responded and the infant was pronounced deceased.

Police Search For Stabbing Suspect

Police are searching for an Oakdale man suspected of stabbing another Oakdale man in the forearm following an argument. Benjamin Gayton, 29, is a local transient who is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches, 135 pounds, with very short, shaved brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a ripped white tank top undershirt. Gayton has a tattoo on his right arm that reads, "Gayton."
