Oakdale Police Department investigators continue to follow up on the early morning Oct. 31 shooting in the 300 block of South Third Avenue that sent a 20-year-old male to an area hospital for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW) Advanced Hunter Education Program has begun to schedule its clinics for 2017. So far, next year's roster includes Wilderness First Aid, Wild Turkey Hunting, Deer Hunting, Big Game Packing and Land Navigation. Some spaces are also still available for the few remaining 2016 clinics (Wild Game Cooking, Waterfowl Hunting, Wilderness First Aid and Wild Pig Hunting).

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have not moved in the past week, averaging $2.56/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.21/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Come November, the view from the Knights Ferry Bridge is sure to include Chinook salmon during the peak of their migration. It is this time of year that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District, FISHBIO, and other local partners come together to celebrate the annual Stanislaus River Salmon Festival. The sixth annual event will be held in Knights Ferry at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Stanislaus River Park on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

They raised approximately $3 million in capital to start Oak Valley Community Bank, OVCB, and today it is worth over $80 million.
