Oak Valley Hospital Awarded Grant Money

At Wednesday's Board of Director's meeting, April 25, Oak Valley Hospital CEO John McCormick announced that the State of California awarded the hospital a $350,000 grant.

Teen Presumed Drowned In San Joaquin River

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department responded to the San Joaquin River near 8622 Dos Rios Monday afternoon, April 30 for a 17-year-old male in need of assistance. The teen was swimming with friends when he began having problems. A friend attempted to help him get to the river bed, but could not hold onto him. Both the Sheriff's and Fire Department are attempting to locate the teen's body with the use of the dive team. The teen was last seen floating north along the San Joaquin River.

Burchell Hill Grabs ‘Leafing Out’ Grant

A CAL FIRE Urban Forestry Grant called "Leafing Out" has been awarded to the City of Oakdale in close cooperation with the Burchell Hill property owners. This unusual grant from CAL FIRE provides $7,500 for the planting of 80 trees in the Burchell Hill area. Matching funds of $2,500 from the City of Oakdale will create a total project budget of $10,000.
