Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 3.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.69/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.28/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Modesto Junior College Department of Dance is proud to host the American College Dance Association Conference, March 1 through 4. The event involves 400 dancers from 30 participating colleges and universities engaging in technique and research classes daily and performing nightly in the Adjudicated Dance Concerts.

The future looks promising for students of Oakdale High School's Future Business Leaders of America as they recently competed in the FBLA Leadership Competition. The California Central Section event was hosted in Visalia in early February.
Oakdale as a community has had many accomplishments in sports over the years. Just this past winter the Oakdale High School football team claimed the CIF State Championship. However, it was the girls, and one boy, that cheered the football team on from the sidelines who took a step into the limelight this past weekend.
Though fewer cars are on the road at night than during the daytime, driving at night is still dangerous. In fact, the National Safety Council notes that drivers' risk of being in fatal car crashes is three times greater at night than it is during the daytime.
