City To Create Interim Managers

With the September retirement of former Oakdale Public Services Director Thom Clark, and the subsequent appointment of Jeff Gravel as the interim director, the city's Public Services Department needs additional management to oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, according to Oakdale City Manager Bryan Whitemyer. As a result, Whitemyer has called for the city to create two Interim Public Services Manager positions.

Funky Flea Market Partners With Bloomingcamp’s

Electric Charging Stations Coming To Bianchi Center

Stanislaus County, in partnership with the Oakdale Tourism and Visitors Bureau, are working together on a project to install two electric vehicle charging stations in two parking spaces in the Gene Bianchi Community Center parking lot near the Oakdale Library. After discussion by the city council, in a split 3-2 vote, the City of Oakdale moved to have two parking stalls near the library designated strictly for electric vehicles only and their charging.

OHS, Community Prepare For Homecoming Parade

Streets will once again close down to make way for the Oakdale High School student body and the Annual Homecoming Parade. The event will be hosted on Friday, Oct. 14 beginning at 1:30 p.m. to conclude the week of homecoming events. Homecoming royalty will be crowned later that evening at the Corral. (See photos, Page A3.)

AAUW Planning Annual Scholarship Fundraiser

The local American Association of University Women, Oakdale, Riverbank, Escalon (AAUW ORE) Branch is currently planning its major scholarship fundraising event to be held on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. The cost for this event is $25 per person. Tickets are available from current members, at the door, or by calling 209-847-8553. The price of the ticket includes appetizers, beverages, both a silent and oral auction and viewing of a film related to travel on the Spanish, Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail.
