CHP Preps For Super Bowl Traffic With New Web Site

As preparations continue for the National Football League's biggest event of the season, the Bay Area is bracing for a surge in motor vehicle, foot, and bicycle traffic that comes with it. In an effort to give the public a heads-up before they head out, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) worked with the California Department of Transportation to develop a Super Bowl 50 traffic information website: www.superbowl50traffic.com.

Homecoming Fun For Mustangs

It was a busy, fun and festive week leading up to a pair of basketball games and crowning of Homecoming Royalty in Oakdale this week. The events were staged as part of a rally on Friday and the varsity girls and boys basketball teams were in action that night. That's also when the courts were presented to the crowd and the new royalty named.

City Council Advised Of Citrus Pest Threat

Arrest Made In Afternoon Stabbing

Oakdale Police were called to the scene of a stabbing of a 25-year-old man at a convenience store located in the 900 block of S. Yosemite Avenue on Friday, Jan. 14. Police later arrested the female suspect walking away from the scene and, with the use of a police canine, located the knife used to commit the assault.

Continued Decline Seen In National Pump Prices

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 7.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.46/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 6.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $1.90/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Orange Blossom 4-H Members Excel In Public Speaking Contest

Four Orange Blossom 4-H members competed in the Stanislaus County 4-H Creed Contest on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at the Stanislaus County Ag Center. The 4-H Creed is written by an anonymous author, and is about members using their head, heart, hands, and health to be good citizens. There are divisions by age, and categories are those who choose to read the Cred and those who choose to recite it from memory.
