Oakdale Area Gears Up For Symbiosis

It's called the "Symbiosis Gathering" and for the Oakdale area, the name couldn't be more fitting. By definition, symbiosis is described as a merging together of two dissimilar organisms for a mutually beneficial relationship. Such beneficial merging is at the heart of this special gathering, as we see brought together, a small cowboy town and an explosion of art and culture from all over the world.

Military Academy Information Night

U.S. Representative Jeff Denham will hold a United States Military Academy Information Night on Monday, Sept. 23 in Modesto. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Joseph A. Gregori High School and will provide extensive information about the various U.S. military academies. It will also provide information on how students can be nominated to attend the academies.

Symbiosis Coming To Oakdale

Oakdale will play host to the 2013 Symbiosis Gathering at Woodward Reservoir Regional Park from Thursday, Sept. 19 through Monday, Sept. 23. Organizers of the event say Symbiosis Gathering could draw upwards of 10,000 event goers to the region.

Modesto Junior College Veterans Services and MJC Health Services will present speaker Jeremiah Pauley, a participant in the Wounded Warrior Project's "Warrior Speaks" program on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6p.m. on the East Campus Quad, 435 College Ave., Modesto. After a month long investigation, a former Boy Scout troop leader and Oakdale business owner was arrested by Stanislaus County Sheriff's detectives on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 5 for engaging in sexual acts with a minor and showing the minor pornography.
