Library Fundraiser Slated

A fundraising event for Save Stanislaus Libraries will be held at the home of Oakdale Mayor Pat Paul on Thursday, March 29 from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. Co-hosted by Delsie and Roger Schrimp, the event will raise funds and awareness for Measure T, the ballot measure to renew the 1/8 of a penny sales tax that provides 87 percent of the funding for Stanislaus County libraries.

Council Agenda Touches On Wide Variety Of Topics

A moderately attended Oakdale City Council meeting Monday evening saw a mixed bag of action and postponement on an agenda that included several items designed to publicize and promote the city. The meeting started at its usual 7 p.m. time after a two-hour closed door session in which existing and anticipated litigation was discussed. There were no reportable actions that came out of the closed session.

Policy Research Center Study Sees Strengthening Economy

The California economy will maintain strong growth despite soft U.S. economic growth and a deepening drought, according to the latest projection from the Center for Business and Policy Research at the University of the Pacific. The latest forecast boosts its projection of 2015 job growth in California to 2.8 percent, up from 2.3 percent in the January forecast. Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 6.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.38 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.75/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Warehouse Water Leak Reveals Marijuana Grow
