Bank Announces Three Promotions

Oak Valley Community Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oak Valley Bancorp (NASDAQ: OVLY), announced the promotion of Russell Stahl to Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer. Stahl started working for Oak Valley in 1998, managing the bank's network and electronic channels as the company grew. He had previously held the SVP, Information Technology title since 2012.

GETTING READY

Several Oakdale residents took advantage of the free sand and bags offered outside the East G Street fire station on Friday, loading up bags in preparation for the series of wet winter storms rolling through the region. Some four inches of rain fell between Friday and Monday, with more rain forecast for Wednesday and Thursday before clearing skies on Friday.

Veterans First Service Project Staged At Oakdale Academy

Oakdale Academy students showed their support for veterans and active service members by decorating care packages with their artwork, filling them with goodies, and sending them off overseas this past Friday. Kindergarten through third grade teacher Paula Roberts, in her first year at the Academy, has her students participate in a service project each trimester and the one they just completed was the veterans' service project. They began this project in November for Veterans' Day and continued it this month sending off packages.

Fire Protection Board Sets Thursday Session

The first regular meeting of the new year for the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Board is set for Thursday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. The session will be in the Station 26 meeting room at 3318 Topeka St. and include recognition of outgoing Board of Directors member Shayne Strasser and a badge pinning for threw new firefighter paramedics.

Citizen, Business Nominees Listed

Each year, the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce honors members of the community for Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, Junior Achievement, Community Service, and Lifetime Achievement. The annual Oakdale Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet is scheduled later this month, and this week we profile those in the running for Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year 2016 honors.

Sandbags Available At Fire Station

Flooding and heavy rain is expected over the course of this weekend through next week. Oakdale Public Works will have sandbags available to Oakdale residents at OFD Station 1 at 325 E. G St. in the parking lot facing Yosemite Avenue adjacent to their annex building. There will be sand, bags and shovels for the public to use.

Altamont Commuter Train Expands WiFi Services

Starting this month, 2017 WiFi service will be expanded to all passenger cars for all four eastbound trains, and all four westbound trains during weekday commuter service on ACE, the Altamont Commuter Express. Previously, Wi-Fi service was limited to one passenger car per trainset. Due to an overwhelming request from passengers to expand this train amenity, all ACE riders will be able to stay connected to family and or work while on their ride to their destination using ACE's extended WiFi service.
