OID Approves October Water

At the Sept. 15 regular meeting, the Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors approved the ending of the 2009 irrigation season to be on Sept. 30, on the 14th day of Rotation 16 and to start the 2010 irrigation season by having an October irrigation made available. The October irrigation will be a 10-day rotation, ending at midnight on Oct. 10. All waters delivered after Sept. 30 are charged to the 2010 season.

Oakdale's 4-H and FFA members had a good showing at the 2009 Stanislaus County Fair, which recently wrapped its annual run. Oakdale FFA members exhibited sheep, beef cattle, dairy cattle, market goats, swine, and rabbits at this year's county fair. While many members placed in the tops of their classes, due to space only champions and first places are listed.

Thick black smoke billowed over Oakdale's early evening sky Thursday, as a one car garage went up in flames in the backyard of a home in the 300 block of South Third Avenue.

Oakdale area 4-H members recently came home from the Stanislaus County Fair with lots of memories and championship ribbons.
Several members of the Sierra and Valley Home 4-H clubs earned numerous accolades with their livestock at the fair.

Oakdale Rural Fire Hires New Chief

After much deliberation and multiple applications for the job -†including a pitch by the Oakdale City Fire Department for administrative services - the Oakdale Rural Fire Protection District, ORFD, has hired retired Cal Fire employee, Lee Winton for the job of rural fire chief.
