An AARP, American Association of Retired Persons, four-hour refresher course is scheduled at the Oak Valley Hospital Medical Center, 1425 W. H St., on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Hours for the event are 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and attendees must have completed a previous eight-hour course.

For Orange Blossom 4-H members, summer time is fair time! Several members in the club participated in the California State Fair as well as the Stanislaus County Fair. Projects ranged from livestock raised throughout the spring and summer to still exhibits where members showcased their talents.

A rapidly moving grass fire threatened Knights Ferry homes on Saturday, July 30, reported after an assisting unit on an unrelated incident spotted the blaze on Frymire Road along the Stanislaus River near the Tuolumne and Stanislaus County line.
It was just three short years ago that Oakdale High School alumnus Lindsay Combs graced the stage to accept her diploma along with other members in the OHS Class of 2013. Later this month, she will begin her senior year at Brigham Young University as a Broadcast Journalism major.
