Annual Conference Focuses On Almond Health, Future

California Almonds, the state's leading agricultural export, are also an economic powerhouse, adding $11 billion to the state's economy and providing 104,000 jobs for Californians. At the same time, through Almond Board of California (ABC), almond farmers lead the charge to accelerate research on sustainability topics, such as water management and air quality. Continual improvements in these areas will enhance sustainability efforts of almond farmers, which will benefit all of California.

HOLIDAY PARADE

Though the weather was, literally, freezing, the annual Holiday Light Parade went off as scheduled Saturday evening in Valley Home. Scott Sachau, left, 5; Audie Beltrami, 1; and 18-month-old Emmit Caudle wheeled their wagon in to bring hot chocolate and candy canes to warm the hearts of parade watchers. Santa and Mrs. Claus waved to the crowd from their spot in the parade. City Welcomes State Champions

On Sunday evening, Dec. 18 hundreds of members of the Oakdale community flooded the streets to welcome back their State Champion varsity Mustangs football team. As the team buses entered town along Yosemite Avenue, members of the Oakdale Police Department and Oakdale Fire Department escorted the team through downtown Oakdale to a warm and welcoming ovation on the otherwise chilly night.

Oakdale Mustang basketball season is underway and all three boys teams are off to early season success.
