Oakdale High School band members as well as the color guard maintained the tradition of leading the way for ghouls, goblins, super heroes and princesses alike during the Annual Halloween Parade and Festival on Monday evening, Oct. 31. The annual event is hosted by the City of Oakdale in partnership with Kiwanis Club of Oakdale.

Yet, doing so is a very important part of biologists' efforts to protect and manage the approximately five million waterfowl that winter in California annually – and is a very important use of the conservation dollars provided by waterfowl hunters.

State Gas Price Falls Faster Than Average

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 5.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.56/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.21/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Halftime Honors 1996 Champs And Troops

A larger than usual crowd flocked to The Corral this past Friday night. Not only did the fans witness a varsity Mustangs 39-14 home win over visiting Weston Ranch, but they were also treated to Military Appreciation Night, also known as the Honor Bowl. And, topping it off, there was a special 20-year reunion for the 1996 CIF Section Championship Mustangs football team.

HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS

The City of Oakdale has once again partnered with Kiwanis Club of Oakdale for the Annual Halloween Parade and Festival. The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning with the annual parade. The parade begins at the Youth Building, 297 Gilbert Ave., next to OHS. Line up is at 4:30 p.m., the parade heads from there east along G Street to the Gene Bianchi Community Center at South Second Avenue. The festival will include crafts, face painting, costume contest and a complimentary hot dog, chips and drink dinner.
