Soroptimist International Schedules Motor Madness

Soroptimist International of Oakdale will host its annual Motor Madness fundraiser on Saturday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m., at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. Guests will be entertained by Rob Ely who will present "The Rockin' 50's" and are encouraged to dress in 50's attire. The event includes hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, soft drinks, and dessert. Tickets are $100 each and admits two adults (must be 21 years or older) to the event and constitutes one entry for the door prize drawings.

Vacant Buildings, Water Still On Denham’s Radar

A man convicted of a 1999 homicide in Oakdale was found unsuitable for parole in a hearing by the State Board of Parole in Vacaville late last month.

Wanted Suspect Stand-off Closes Street

Oakdale Police along with Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies had West Avenue near West F Street closed off for most of Tuesday morning, March 15, regarding a suspicious incident of persons being held against their will. During the incident, one male subject was taken into custody for a narcotic violation and a female was taken into custody for a misdemeanor arrest warrant. A third subject, a male, was also taken into custody but police are not releasing his name or charges due to possibly compromising another investigation.

Oakdale’s World Champion Bull Contender Put Down

In a Pro Bull Riding tragedy in Arizona this weekend, Julio Moreno's two-time World Champion Bull contender, and half-brother of Oakdale's infamous Bushwacker, 'Roy' sustained two broken front legs after scoring a career best 46.5 score and bucking off 2015 World Finals event winner Cooper Davis after only a 2.43 second ride on Sunday, March 6.

In a pair of home non-league games, the Mustang varsity baseball team showed early season grit in a pair of victories. The team defeated Lincoln 5-1 on Wednesday, March 2 and followed that up with a dramatic 5-4 come from behind victory over Tokay.
