Donations Being Sought For National Night Out

Tuesday, Aug. 6 will be observed as the 30th National Night Out, which now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all over 50 states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. River Paradise Mobile Estates will be hosting an event open to any resident of Oakdale. Last year's event was attended by nearly 250 Oakdale residents.

California Sends Signal To Manufacturers: Open For Business

California's Legislature and the Governor signaled to manufacturers that the state will be a more competitive place to invest over the next eight years by passing an eight-year 4.19 cent sales tax exemption on the purchase of manufacturing equipment. This was a three and a half year increase over the four and a half year exemption passed earlier this month.

Election Filing Begins

Candidates interested in running for local office in the Nov. 5, 2013 Consolidated District Election can apply now, with the filing period starting this past Monday, July 15 and running through Friday, Aug. 9. Candidates, including incumbents, must file nomination documents during this period in order to file for office and appear on the ballot.

Python Ron At Library Today

"Python Ron" Mcgee will be at the Oakdale Library, today, Tuesday, July 16 at 10:30a.m. and 12p.m. showing off an assortment of his reptilian friends and sharing various educational facts and information about them. Python Ron will be dressed in his safari attire and will give children a chance to see the exotic reptiles up close and personal. They will also be able to touch some of the reptiles.

Wine Booth Returns To Escalon Park Fete

Escalon Parks Foundation will host a wine booth at this year's Park Fete July 12 and 13 in downtown Escalon. Last year's wine booth was a new offering at Park Fete and well received by attendees. The booth will be serving red and white wine donated by Gallo Family Vineyards. Drink tokens will be $5 each and redeemable for beer or wine. Token sales close at 9:30 p.m. each day.

The Columbia College Automotive Technology Program's five week Team Managed Projects class will begin on Monday, July 15. This course is designed to strengthen problem solving skills through teamwork and by using the total quality management (TQM) process. Problem solving is an everyday event. Oakdale’s Olivo Quits MLB Marlins
