Simple, Effective Ways For Kids To ‘Go Green’

Raising eco-friendly children is less complicated than it once was. From very early ages, today's kids are exposed to environmental topics and how they can do their part to maintain and protect the planet's resources. Between activities at daycare and lessons at school to information they receive from educational television programming, some kids are taking their own environmental initiatives – and involving their parents along the way.

Bloomingcamp Crowd Welcomes In The Harvest

Flights And Fun At Airport Open House

Arrangements for the Oakdale Airport Open House 2016 have been underway for months so mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this year's unique gathering of vintage classic and new airplanes along with custom cars. The EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Young Eagles Program flights will be offered again this year to youth between the ages of 8 and 17. District Sparring Peaks At Meeting

After a week of court actions (see related article below), the Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors met on Wednesday, Sept 21. During the emotionally charged meeting, factions sounded off, including the meeting ending with General Manager Steve Knell defending himself against media accusations, sounding off against Director Linda Santos, which was trailed by Santos defending herself with her own stern retorts back to Knell.

It's been almost two decades since Paul Riva joined forces with his best friend to pursue a career in the printing business. It's a passing of time which visibly stumps the owner of the Oakdale-based business Apparel Graphics, Inc. as he recalls the early days of specializing in screen printing and embroidery.

TEAR IT UP

Work has now started on another street project in town, this one on North Second Avenue between C and E streets. The project will include pavement, water and sewer main replacement and is being funded with a variety of city and tax funds. The work is on the street that normally allows access to the police department; access can be made from North Third.

Harvest Festival Back At Bloomingcamp Ranch

Hay is being set for pumpkins, participants and hay rides as the staff of Bloomingcamp Ranch prepares for its annual Harvest Festival. The event will be hosted at the ranch just east of Oakdale on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Directors Santos, Altieri Fire Back At OID
