After breaches of confidentiality in closed session regarding a lawsuit, sworn declarations to the plaintiffs' attorney, and public bashing on social media by two of its directors, the Oakdale Irrigation District filed a lawsuit against Directors Linda Santos and Gail Altieri seeking a temporary restraining order to keep them from strategy sessions surrounding litigation.
Oakdale's JV baseball team was busy this past week with summer ball action, taking part in the Bob Loureiro Invitational Tournament hosted at Escalon High School. Caltrans released new survey data this week that shows nearly half of all motorists surveyed admit to sometimes littering along the state's highways. Nearly one in five California motorists report intentionally dumping something on the side of the highway. Survey respondents confirmed they improperly disposed of items ranging from old furniture and appliances to green waste from their yard such as lawn clippings, branches or leaves. In addition, another six percent of motorists admitted that they fail to pick up waste left by pets on the side of the highway.
This year, Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are asking thousands of Californians how they get around. Surveys are being distributed now through April 2017 and Caltrans is asking the public to take part and help plan for future transportation needs.
Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 0.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.73/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.34/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
