Oakdale Library proved to be a popular stop this past Thursday, as close to 40 children and their families attended a "Minute To Win It" event hosted in conjunction with the library's "Read for the Win" Summer Reading Challenge program. In addition to the activities, participants received prizes for completion of seven varying challenges if achieved within less than a minute.

Oakdale Police officials anticipate a program for officers to wear body cameras to be in effect within three to four months, according to Interim Police Chief Mike Harden. On Monday, June 6, the city council unanimously approved the purchase of the $43,000 program.

Oakdale and surrounding area seniors were once again treated to a complimentary lunch and a wealth of information during the 15th Annual Oakdale Senior Information Day hosted on Friday, June 10. The annual event is presented and sponsored by the City of Oakdale and Oak Valley Hospital District and is free to the community. It is hosted each year at the Gene Bianchi Community Center.

Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center (OFRC) will host Inside Out for the first Movie Under the Stars event in Cottles Woods Park at dusk on Saturday, June 18. This is the first of three Movie Under the Stars events, the next two taking place July 16 and Aug. 20. The July movie will be a showing of Minions and the August feature will be a showing of Norm of the North. All three events will be in Cottles Woods Park with the show beginning at dusk.
