Chanukah Menorah Lightings Scheduled Throughout Valley

Congregation Beth Shalom, The Center for Jewish Life in greater Stanislaus County and the Central Valley based in Modesto, has announced that they will offer public Menorah lighting events all over the region on each of the eight nights of the Chanukah holiday this year.

Continuing Exhibitions Featured At Crocker Art Museum

The Shaw siblings, shown here, along with their parents, make up the Shaw Family Band, which will perform a holiday gospel concert at Escalon First Baptist Church on Dec. 15. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge for the concert; however, an offering will be received for the Shaw Family Band. First Baptist Church is just off McHenry Avenue at 1511 Catherine Way in Escalon.

Motorists Save At Pump

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 4.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.92/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.45/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Junior Class Girls Sought For 2019 DYW Program

Soroptimist International of Oakdale is seeking Junior Class girls to participate in the Distinguished Young Women of Oakdale for the Class of 2019 scholarship program. Over $6,000 in college scholarships and the Distinguished Young Woman of Oakdale title will be awarded at the program to be held March 10, 2018 at Magnolia School Auditorium. Participants need not attend Oakdale High School, but must live within the 95361 zip code.
