Retiree Health Benefits Spark Council Discussion

Being denied earlier this month having his matter made into an agenda item for the Monday, Feb. 6 Oakdale City Council meeting, retired Oakdale Fire Captain Rick Ferroni brought forward his concern to the public comment portion of the session instead. Ferroni's item, about retiree medical benefits being cut by the city, brought 45 minutes of discussion between the city manager, the council and other speakers who came in support. The time spent on his concern was longer than spent on the actual agenda items set for the evening.

Former City Director Facing Fraud Charges in Sutter County

A former City of Oakdale department head who took a position as a planning manager with Sutter County in March 2012 is facing an array of criminal charges, including two felonies, after an investigation by the Sutter County District Attorney showed numerous incidents of making false statements, providing false information, perjury and voter fraud.

Meeting Offers Information On Pharmacy Tech Program

Gas Prices Dip Down In Northern California

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 3.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.60/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. UOP Forecast Predicts Economy Holds Steady

The California economy should maintain solid 2.6 percent growth in 2017 with the unemployment rate holding steady at 5.4 percent as job growth decelerates to 1.6 percent according to the latest projection from the Center for Business and Policy Research at the University of the Pacific. Beyond 2017, growth is expected to slow as the initial boost from anticipated tax cuts and deficit spending under President Trump fades and reduced federal healthcare spending, reduced immigration and international trade, and a rising dollar and interest rates curb growth.
