Pump Prices Move Higher

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 1.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.81/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has not moved in the last week, staying steady at $2.34/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Biblical Historical Tour To Israel And Jordan

A Biblical and historical study tour to Israel and Jordan is scheduled to depart from San Francisco on Nov. 25, 2017. The 14-day Biblical journey will be led by Dr. Dale Pederson, area pastor, experienced Bible lands tour leader and pastor of Escalon First Baptist Church. Sheriff’s Department Identifies Suspect, Deputy In Shooting

Detectives continue to investigate the officer involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, Aug. 6 in Knights Ferry. The deputy involved in the shooting has been identified as Christopher Hendee. He was hired by the Sheriff's Office in November of 2016, and he has been a peace officer for almost five years.

St. Louis Encephalitis Virus Detected

The East Side and Turlock Mosquito Abatement Districts (MADs) have received confirmation that a mosquito sample from Stanislaus County has tested positive for St. Louis Encephalitis Virus (SLEV). SLEV is related to West Nile Virus (WNV) and is transmitted via the bite of Culex mosquitoes, the same mosquitoes that transmit WNV.
