T.P. Express Celebrates Three Decades Of Service

Some might say Michael Harris was born into a unique vantage point of Stanislaus County. From as far back as he can remember, Harris has been riding in a T.P. Express truck. Originally acquired by his father Wayne in 1987, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the portable restroom Oakdale business. Harris purchased the business in 2009.

Pet Adoption Event Scheduled At Petco

The Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance volunteers will have a few adoptable pets from the Oakdale Animal Shelter at Petco in the Riverbank Crossroads Shopping Center on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. These four legged furry little animals are ready to find their forever homes.

Carrillo Earns Appointment As New Police Lieutenant

Oakdale Police Chief Scott Heller announced the appointment of Joe Carrillo as the Department's new Lieutenant on Monday afternoon, May 1. Carrillo is a 26-year veteran of the Oakdale Police Department who has served in a wide variety of assignments over the years. For the last nine years Carrillo has served as a patrol Sergeant with a recent stint as the acting Lieutenant. Additionally, he has served as Corporal, Field Training Officer, Canine Handler, and Detective.

Stanislaus Consolidated Crews Contain Storage Unit Blaze

There were several fire engines at a storage facility near the intersection of North Yosemite Avenue (Highway 120) and A Street due to a call originally listed as a potential structure fire in the early morning around 8 a.m. on April 26. As calls continued to roll in to the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District dispatch that smoke and flames were seen at storage unit complex, the call was upgraded to a working structure fire which put several units at the scene.

Valley Vote Now Open

U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) recently opened the "Valley Vote" contest, a public component of California's 10th District Congressional Art Competition. The online voting period will end at Noon PST on Monday, May 8.

Early Returns Show Santos Maintaining OID Seat

Unofficial results in the April 25 recall election for Oakdale Irrigation District Director Linda Santos showed with just under 500 votes counted, the 'No' votes for recall were 276 to 218 'Yes' votes. The early, unofficial returns show Santos holding on to the post but there are additional ballots to review before the count is finalized and the results can be certified.

Veterans Commission Pays Visit To Oakdale

Members of the Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission made an appearance at the Oakdale City Council Chambers on Monday evening, April 24. The commission, according to Chairman Richard Edgecomb, makes it a point to visit the various districts within the county in an ongoing effort to keep local veterans apprised of benefits and developments that matter in their lives.

Nygard Announces Bid For Congressional Post

Former Riverbank City Council member Dotty Nygard has declared an interest in running for Representative Jeff Denham's 10th Congressional District seat and has begun raising funds for a campaign. Denham is a Republican who lives in Turlock. Nygard, a registered nurse, is a Democrat who now lives in Tracy.
