OID Has Clean Audit

The Oakdale Irrigation District got a clean bill of health from the independent auditor Brian Nash of Richardson and Company. The OID Board of Directors heard Nash's report at its June 7 meeting and then unanimously approved the district's 2010 comprehensive annual financial report. The board also approved the 2010 annual financial report for OID improvement districts.

Tight Lines - City Critters Come To The Country

Oakdale Group Helps Joplin Residents

Dozens of Oakdale residents recently caravanned to Joplin, Missouri taking supplies and their helping hands to make a contribution toward tornado relief efforts. Members of the Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene and Gilton Solid Waste Management employees have been in Joplin since June 2. Sales Tax Survey Results On Council Agenda

The results of an ad hoc committee's sales tax study is set to be presented at the June 6 Oakdale City Council Meeting.

In May, the council commissioned Godbe Research of San Mateo County to perform a survey on the viability of the tax initiative that would raise the sales tax in Oakdale.

Robbery, Assault Mar Memorial Day Weekend

The Memorial Day holiday weekend was busy with the usual traffic logjam heading up and from the Sonora pass through the heart of Oakdale and while there were no serious traffic accidents with only two minor crashes with property damage, and only two DUI arrests, there was plenty to keep officers on their toes.

The City of Oakdale Certified Farmers Market kicks off on Thursday, June 2 and will run weekly through Sept. 29. The Farmers Market will be on Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on North Third Avenue, between E and F streets.

Local Relief Effort Goes To Joplin

A small caravan of Gilton Solid Waste Management trucks are making their way to Joplin, Missouri today, Wednesday, June 1 to deliver much-needed relief supplies to the tornado-ravaged town. Gilton and members of Oakdale's Nazarene church have been collecting supplies such as non-perishable foods, bottled water, new clothes and bedding, sanitary supplies, and much more for the trip.

Gilton Heads Disaster Relief Assistance

Shocked by the devastation and loss of life in Joplin, Missouri as a result of the recent tornado, the owners of Gilton Solid Waste Management are spearheading a local effort to provide relief supplies to the many people suffering. In the next week, Gilton will haul donated materials, volunteers, and company employees to Missouri to distribute supplies and help in any way possible. The trucks and personnel plan to leave Wednesday, June 1. City Mayors Hear Police Merger Issue

Oakdale Mayor Pat Paul and Riverbank Mayor Virginia Madueno met with Oakdale Police representatives on May 18 to hear a presentation on the possibility of combining police services.
