In March, SMART Exemplary Educators were invited to attend the 2014 SMART Summit to be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from July 20-26. There was a written, as well as video portion to the application. The 2 minute video was on the applicant's "SMART Breakthrough Moment" and was posted on social media sites for public voting. Council Approves Fire Service Transfer

After putting finishing touches on a fire contract to have the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District assume fire service for the City of Oakdale and transfer its existing fire personnel to become employees of the district, the Oakdale City Council voted 5-0 Monday night to approve the handover, which is expected to become effective Sept. 1.

OID Rate Hike Study A ‘Go’

Survey Shows Continued Gas Price Decline

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 1.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.75/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.0 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.45/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
