Cattlewomen Tap Telles Outstanding 2017 Cowbelle

The San Joaquin-Stanislaus CattleWomen selected Bobbie Telles as the 2017 Cowbelle of the year earlier this fall at a meeting of the local organization. Telles was given an engraved cowbell and a sterling silver pendant to celebrate her hard work. The award singles out an outstanding member who dedicates a significant amount of time and effort to promote the beef industry.

Beef In The Classroom

The Mid Valley Cowbelle's third annual Beef in the Classroom was a huge success this year. With a generous donation from the San Joaquin-Stanislaus and Mariposa-Merced Cattlemen Association, the Mid Valley Cowbelles donated over 2000 pounds of ground hamburger meat to 13 local schools.

Stanislaus County Honors Orange Blossom 4-H Members

On October 14, 2017 the Stanislaus County 4-H Awards Reception was held at the Stanislaus County Agriculture Center to recognize 4-H members throughout the county who have achieved success above the club level in various project areas. At the reception, several Orange Blossom 4-H members were recognized. Rhys Ludlow was awarded first medalist in intermediate cooking. In the horse project, Cailee Flood was awarded junior first medalist. Natalie Thompson was the county winner for leadership, and Molly Terpstra was the intermediate first medalist for public speaking. In the primary record book award category, Maryn Ludlow and Paige Swier were recognized.

The Spirit of Oakdale Committee is once again putting out the call for cooked turkeys and/or financial donations to aid with putting on the 24th Annual Oakdale Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The event will be hosted on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale.
