The Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project (CEP) invites the community to a screening of the film "The Burden" on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in Forum 110 on East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto. The free event is part of the CEP Spring Film and Lecture Series. Campus parking is available for $2 in student parking lots.
Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), visited the Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) meeting in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday, April 9 and addressed the Council, which is responsible for managing ocean fisheries off Washington, Oregon, and California. Dr. Sullivan is a distinguished scientist, astronaut, and explorer.

John Deming Sr., a 10-year veteran police reserve officer with the Oakdale Police Department, is the father of the 19-year-old, John "Bubba" Deming Jr., and a plaintiff in the action.
