Walk/Run In Stockton For Martin Luther King Day

The NAACP of Stockton has announced a new event for the New Year – The Inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 5k and 10k Walk/Run, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, in downtown Stockton. This new Walk/Run gives participants the choice of a 10k Run or 5k Run/Walk, on two extremely flat and fast courses, featuring lots of visibility for the runners of the field, ahead and behind them. The courses' sights include the beautiful downtown of Stockton at Dr. Martin Luther King Plaza.

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 0.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.90/gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. While alcohol-impaired driving remains the most serious problem on our roadways, the percentage of drivers in fatal crashes with other impairing substances in their system keeps rising. Faced with more instances of DUID – Driving Under the Influence of Drugs – state and local officials are reiterating the message that "DUI Doesn't Just Mean Booze." The message takes on increased importance with the state set to begin licensing commercial nonmedical marijuana sales on Jan. 1, 2018, under provisions of Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act.

Merrily Musical Oakdale Student Body

The month of December was one of music and merriment for students and families of Oakdale Joint Unified School District. From choir to band, concert band and jazz band alike, OJUSD students did not disappoint by way of sharing their talents with the community.
