Dr. Jane Harmon was selected by the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees to be the YCCD Interim Chancellor, effective Jan. 3, 2017. YCCD Board Chair and Vice Chair, Trustees Anne DeMartini and Darin Gharat, finalized contract language, as was agreed by the Board at its Dec. 14, 2016 meeting.

The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is planning to host the 18th Annual Educational Technology Conference, ETC! 2017 on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at California State University Stanislaus (CSUS) One University Circle, Turlock. The ETC! 2017 conference is a professional development opportunity for integrating technology into education. A wide variety of sessions are offered that demonstrate how technology can support student achievement. Sessions are geared to teachers, administrators, support staff, IT professionals, technology coordinators and pre-service educators.

Giving is an important part of 4-H membership, and the Orange Blossom 4-H Club has found many ways to give back to the local community. This started in the fall with time donated to help with the Salmon Festival and also the Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll, where the club set up crafts and games for youngsters. Members enjoyed working together and meeting new people throughout both weekends.

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 2.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.50/gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.28/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
