SPECIAL VISITOR

Prior to his annual Christmas Eve world tour, Santa Claus paid a visit to Forever Young Childcare in Oakdale. Santa and Mrs. Claus made a surprise trip to Oakdale and spent time with the youngsters at the daycare facility. Santa asked all the children what they wanted for Christmas, handed out presents and read the classic 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' to them.

Delicato Vineyards Donates $40,000 To Aid Fire Victims

Delicato Family Vineyards has donated $40,000 to Restaurants Care to support restaurant workers affected by the Thomas Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and the Wine Country fires in Napa and Sonoma counties. This generous donation means grants will continue to be available to help cover basic living expenses such as temporary lodging, food, clothing and supplies for restaurant workers who've either been displaced or find themselves unemployed as a result of these fires.

TIME FOR TOYS

These volunteers were among those helping make the holidays a little brighter. The folks at the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots opened their Oakdale headquarters at the former Payless Shoe Store building on Maag Avenue this past week, working in cooperation with the Masons of the Oak Summit Lodge in Knights Ferry on the project. Toys were brought in to the location and were distributed to families from throughout surrounding areas.

The effects on water temperature and fish behavior is directly related. Where I grew up, there were a couple of ponds in my neighborhood that were run off ponds for an electric company. The water was used to cool off the generators and then pumped back into the ponds. Consequently, those ponds stayed close to 80 degrees all year long. Somehow bass were introduced into the pond and catching them became easy. CAN TREE BREAKAST

The 35th annual CVAR Can Tree Breakfast boasted a full house at the Bianchi Center, Thursday morning, Dec. 14 as the community came together to help those less fortunate. Each year the Can Tree breakfast raises funds for Community Sharing, an outreach program that provides food and clothing to those in need in the community. There was plenty of food, along with laughter, fellowship and the chance to bid on a wide variety of coveted auction items.
