If a Vista Energy Marketing salesperson shows up at your door and asks about your PG&E bill and suggests that with their assistance they can provide lower costs, you might think twice, according to one local resident. Just like him, cities throughout Central California have experienced a number of complaints about the company's "pushiness" and a number of residents, especially the elderly, have complained about getting scammed on their utility bills.

Family Resource Center Community Baby Shower

Center for Human Services - Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will host its Second Annual Community Baby Shower on Saturday, April 23 during the 'Love Oakdale' event. Up to 15 women can attend the event and each woman is encouraged to bring a support person for a total of 30 attendees. To register for the event, call CHS-Oakdale Family Resource Center at (209) 847-0420. Spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis and each participant who registers in advance will receive a special prize.

Mighty Meg Endures

Mighty Meg earned her name honestly, showing the world just what kind of strength a little dog can have. Meg is about one year old and she spent that first year of life tied up in a backyard with a rope around her neck. The rope eventually became embedded in her neck as her body grew. Rescued by the Oakdale Animal Shelter, she received medical treatment from Family Veterinary Care of Oakdale, who surgically removed the rope. She had been recovering in a foster home, and just recently was adopted and has a new forever home.

Sonora Expo Places Focus On Spirit, Mind And Body

The Spirit Mind Body Expo is planning an Ecumenical Celebration on Sunday, April 17. It will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Sonora Opera Hall and is open to the public. The theme of this year's Expo is "Celebrating Wholeness" and the Sunday Celebration will explore this theme through art, music, poetry, and song.

Sunday Breakfast Served In Neighboring La Grange

La Grange Odd Fellows will host its next monthly pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 10. Breakfast will be served between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the IOOF Hall in downtown La Grange. Slow, Steady Rise Seen In Gas Prices

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 9.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.56 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 5.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.04/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
