The Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in serving on the YCCD Measure E Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC).
Assemblymember Adam Gray, who serves as the chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Rail, will be hosting a special public hearing on the existing passenger rail services in the San Joaquin Valley on Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Modesto City Council/Stanislaus County Chambers (1010 10th St., Basement Chambers) in downtown Modesto. The focus of this Assembly Select Committee on Rail hearing will be on promoting the near-term improvement and expansion of the successful San Joaquin and Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) rail services.

After the Oakdale City Council authorized replacement of $37,000 worth of outdated critical fire equipment on Monday, Aug. 17, the council also agreed to pay $34,094 as its part of increased administrative and overhead costs with the addition of three full-time firefighters. The positions were added to the line staff of the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District as a result of a recently obtained federal grant.
Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 4.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.17/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 8.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.68/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
