Mayotte Takes Reins For Fire Agencies

In the name of efficiency and eliminating redundancy, Stanislaus County Consolidated Fire Protection District Chief, Stephen Mayotte, has assumed the role of Fire Chief by Contract for Oakdale Rural Fire Protection District, Oakdale City Fire Department as well as Stanislaus Consolidated as of July 1.

Strong Words To Get CalPERS Actuarial

The Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors recently unanimously approved a resolution to terminate the contract between the district and the Board of Administration of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS). Due to sustainability concerns and escalating costs associated with the retirement program, the board has expressed concerns and has heard presentations from CalPERS staff. The board directed OID staff to evaluate the options and came up with the need to use strong wording like "contract termination" apparently in order to get the financials they need to study the feasibility.

Cowboy Museum To Debut New Exhibit

A new exhibit, The Saddle, Tools of the Trade, will debut at the Oakdale Cowboy Museum, on Wednesday, July 25, from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. This exhibit will feature the exact tools and equipment that would have been found in a saddle shop 100 years ago and still are being used in shops today. Over the last 150 years the design of the western saddle has continually changed. These changes have mainly occurred to fulfill the various needs of the mounted stockman. Council Moves Forward On Skate Park
