California Producers Earn USDA Grants

USDA Rural Development California State Director Janice Waddell recently announced and congratulated 15 recipients of Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) program funds. The nearly $2 million in grants awarded will help California cooperatives, farmers, ranchers and other small businesses develop and expand new value-added products.

Everybody Loves A (Halloween) Parade

It was the traditional Halloween Parade and Festival for Oakdale on Monday, Oct. 31 as the city, in cooperation with the Oakdale Kiwanis Club and several other community and business supporters, put on the festivities. Along with a parade along G Street, there was food, games, music, candy and fun for the young trick-or-treaters in the early afternoon, before they hit the streets to go door-to-door for some more sweet treats. MUSIC IN MOTION

Oakdale High School band members as well as the color guard maintained the tradition of leading the way for ghouls, goblins, super heroes and princesses alike during the Annual Halloween Parade and Festival on Monday evening, Oct. 31. The annual event is hosted by the City of Oakdale in partnership with Kiwanis Club of Oakdale.

State Duck Stamp Dollars Support Waterfowl Population

Yet, doing so is a very important part of biologists' efforts to protect and manage the approximately five million waterfowl that winter in California annually – and is a very important use of the conservation dollars provided by waterfowl hunters.

State Gas Price Falls Faster Than Average

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 5.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.56/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.21/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
