Members of the CAPS, Citizens Auxiliary Police Service, in Oakdale were on hand at the recent Chamber of Commerce Home Show, offering information to residents about the services they provide in the city. The group is also looking for new volunteers to join the CAPS, who assist the police department in such ways as doing vacation checks, fingerprinting for kids, crowd and traffic control at special events and more. A group of citizens within the Oakdale Irrigation District will see their effort to recall Board Member Linda Santos move forward after attempts to halt the recall in the face of voter fraud charges failed to muster more than a cursory investigation by the Oakdale Police Department.

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 1.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.80/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.28/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

The Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance (OSPA) recently celebrated the completion of 2,500 dog and cat spay/neuters through their voucher program since it started in August 2011. Sarah Atwood and Mary Dunn, voucher customers from Riverbank, were all smiles when they were presented with Petco gift baskets for their pets in recognition of reaching the program milestone, thanks to Anna Gervasio of Petco in Riverbank.
