Grants Awarded By Caltrans

Caltrans this week awarded $9.2 million in Sustainable Transportation Planning Grants to support local governments and agencies in their efforts to integrate transit, bicycling and walking into their local transportation plans. These grants include plans and studies for complete streets, connectivity, multimodal transportation, transit hubs and station areas, corridors, active transportation and community engagement outreach throughout the state.

Armed Forces Breakfast

The Escalon American Legion and Legion Riders Post – Chapter 263 will host an Armed Forces Day breakfast on Saturday, May 20 at the Escalon Masonic Hall, 1500 Viking St, Escalon. Hours for breakfast are 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 10. All active duty Armed Forces personnel will be provided breakfast at no charge. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, linguica, fruit cup, milk, juice and coffee. All are welcome to attend and support the local American Legion.

When I think about the month of April, I'm reminded about the first time I ever caught a bass over 10 pounds. It was all the way back in 2002 at New Hogan Lake during a club tournament. I had seen the fish swimming under my boat the day before but never expected that I would have a chance to catch it the next day. When the fish was finally weighed, it weighed 11.3 lbs. Save Mart Supermarkets Aid Valley Children’s Healthcare

Save Mart Supermarkets has teamed up with Valley Children's Healthcare to help raise money for critical services. From Monday, April 17 to Sunday, April 30, shoppers can tear off $2, $3 or $5 coupons at checkout. Once scanned, the donation will be added to their grocery bill. All proceeds will benefit this premiere pediatric facility. The fundraising drive will be held at 44 Save Mart stores throughout the Central Valley, from Sonora to Porterville, including the local stores in Oakdale and Riverbank.
