Oakdale community members rallied big contributions to support the Oakdale High Boosters Club Annual Dinner, Dance and Auction on March 5 at the FES Hall.

The event saw an impressive net proceeds of $16,825 to benefit OHS athletics.

Oakdale’s Rainy Family Fun Run Finishes Well

Rainy weather didn't dampen the spirits of runners and supporters of Oakdale schools who turned out by the hundreds to participate in the SOS Fun Run/Walk staged Saturday, March 26 at Cloverland Elementary School. The road course wound through neighborhoods with the starting and finish lines in front of Cloverland on Johnson Avenue.

Police Cuts Continue To Challenge Chief, Department

When Marty West took over as police chief for the Oakdale Police Department in 2007, he had a budget with $1.2 million more than it does now and eight more officers to protect the city compared to the 20 currently assigned. Now, with the population and calls for service rising, he's faced with having to lay off one more police officer to meet a 10 percent imposed cut to the department budget.

Thief Takes Off With Coin-Op Washing Machine

Police are looking for thieves suspected of stealing a coin-operated washing machine from a Ponderosa Drive apartment complex sometime over the weekend.

The manager discovered theft Monday, March 21 and noted all the community mailboxes had also been pried open. The estimated value of the washing machine is $1,000.

Bleak Budget Forecast For City

Oakdale's city council chambers were at standing room only capacity on Monday night as Oakdale City Manager Steve Hallam painted a gloomy picture of the city's budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
