The City of Oakdale announced the awarding of a $4 million grant issued through Prop 84 with the California Parks and Recreation Department that will fund the building of a brand new skate park plaza located on South Yosemite Avenue.
Beginning on Saturday, April 1, water levels on the Stanislaus River will increase rapidly for required spring fish flows. The Oakdale Irrigation District provided information that shows releases from Goodwin Dam will increase daily.
Oakdale youth rodeo competitors represented the "Cowboy Capital of the World" among nine districts at one of the California High School Rodeos premiere rodeos, "Challenge of Champions" March 23-25 in Plymouth.
A fundraising event for Save Stanislaus Libraries will be held at the home of Oakdale Mayor Pat Paul on Thursday, March 29 from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. Co-hosted by Delsie and Roger Schrimp, the event will raise funds and awareness for Measure T, the ballot measure to renew the 1/8 of a penny sales tax that provides 87 percent of the funding for Stanislaus County libraries.
Safety with a smile, that's what the Oakdale City Police Department were offering Thursday, March 22 at Magnolia Elementary as Interim Police Chief Lester Jenkins and traffic officer Daniel Peters entertained and educated the afterschool recreation students about bicycle safety. A moderately attended Oakdale City Council meeting Monday evening saw a mixed bag of action and postponement on an agenda that included several items designed to publicize and promote the city. The meeting started at its usual 7 p.m. time after a two-hour closed door session in which existing and anticipated litigation was discussed. There were no reportable actions that came out of the closed session.
