Celebrate 4-H Milestones was the theme of the 2016 Stanislaus County 4-H Leaders Recognition dinner. Joyce Reed, Orange Blossom club, was honored by the county with 45 years of youth leadership. She received the Emerald Clover pin and many gifts, flowers, and honors, for her dedication to the youth of the county and state. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released new data on National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policies, showing an increase of more than 27,000 new NFIP policies written in California during the month of December 2015. There is a 30- to 90-day waiting period for new policies to be reported to FEMA and the latest available data, released Feb. 16, shows an increase of more than 55,500 new flood insurance policies purchased in California from Aug. 31 to Dec. 31, 2015.
Under the direction of drama teacher Bryan Mills, the Oakdale High School Drama Club will present a Neil Simon comedy, Rumors. This full length comedy will be presented on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. in the OHS Theater. Tickets are $5 and will be sold in advance in the business office of the school or at the door.
No child should have to go through chemotherapy. But the sad reality is cancer does not care how old you are. For 4-year-old Oakdale resident, Jasslynn Diaz, the fight is very real. Diaz has optical cancer and is currently involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation trying to get her wish granted.
