Beef In The Classroom

The Mid Valley Cowbelle's third annual Beef in the Classroom was a huge success this year. With a generous donation from the San Joaquin-Stanislaus and Mariposa-Merced Cattlemen Association, the Mid Valley Cowbelles donated over 2000 pounds of ground hamburger meat to 13 local schools.

Stanislaus County Honors Orange Blossom 4-H Members

On October 14, 2017 the Stanislaus County 4-H Awards Reception was held at the Stanislaus County Agriculture Center to recognize 4-H members throughout the county who have achieved success above the club level in various project areas. At the reception, several Orange Blossom 4-H members were recognized. Rhys Ludlow was awarded first medalist in intermediate cooking. In the horse project, Cailee Flood was awarded junior first medalist. Natalie Thompson was the county winner for leadership, and Molly Terpstra was the intermediate first medalist for public speaking. In the primary record book award category, Maryn Ludlow and Paige Swier were recognized.

Family Friendly Festival Celebrates Chinook Salmon

For the ninth year, the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival will be hosted in Knights Ferry, with the event coinciding with the peak migration of Chinook Salmon. Nature lovers, young and old, are encouraged to attend the festival at the Knights Ferry Recreation Area on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

TALKING TURKEY

The Spirit of Oakdale Committee is once again putting out the call for cooked turkeys and/or financial donations to aid with putting on the 24th Annual Oakdale Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The event will be hosted on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. Council Approves Cannabis Ordinance

In spite of concerns expressed by some that the revised city ordinance governing cannabis production within the city limits – both personal and commercial – smelled too strongly of oppressive bureaucracy, council members moved forward with a 4-0 vote to approve the proposed ordinance at the Monday, Nov. 6 meeting.

Inaugural OSC Season Comes To A Close

The first season of Oakdale Soccer Club (OSC) came to a close this past weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 28 T.L. Davis Sports Complex played host to OSC's season finale. Throughout the day, over 650 kids making up some three dozen teams invaded the sports complex and wrapped up their youth soccer season.
