American Veterans First Outfits Vet With ‘Wheels’

Waiting for the new Stanislaus Veterans Center at Sylvan Avenue and Coffee Road in Modesto to open, holding on to a walker, was World War II Veteran Bob Berson and his wife Lola. The couple resides in Oakdale and attended the recent grand opening celebration. While waiting for the doors to open, they were approached by Duke Cooper who runs American Veterans First (AVF) in Riverbank.

Area Gas Prices Higher Than National Average

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 1.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.80 per gallon on Sunday, May 14 according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.33/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center Schedules Baby Animal Shower

The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center celebrates spring with its annual Baby Animal Shower. Come see some of their educational animals up close and personal. Baby animals in rehab will not be displayed. There will be games, cookies and punch, face painting, T-shirts for sale, and crafts for kids. There is no admission charge, but a list of suggested gifts is on the website: StanislausWildlife.org.
