Supervisors Meet On Pond Sludge

The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors will consider ConAgra's application for a permit to spread aerated pond sediment onto Oakdale farmlands owned by John Brichetto at a public meeting at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8. The meeting will be held at the Basement Chambers, 1010 10th St., Modesto, where the board will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of a Negative Declaration.

Pond Sludge Spreading Goes To Supervisors

The potential spreading of by-product waste material from ConAgra's aerated ponds onto Oakdale farmlands is going before the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors at a public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 8. The meeting will be at 9:15 a.m. at the Basement Chambers, 1010 10th St., Modesto, where the board will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of a Negative Declaration for the ConAgra permit application.

Christmas Tree Gala To Fund Books For Students

Budget cutbacks have affected school districts throughout the state. Smaller districts have been especially vulnerable because of smaller operating budgets, but the Valley Home Parent Teacher Club (VHPTC) has come up with a creative way to raise some extra funds needed for the school.

Teachers Spearhead Safety Petitions

Oakdale High School science teacher Cameron Nickerson and French teacher Jessica Lawrence have taken up a cause for student safety. The two are circulating petitions on the high school campus, one for staff and one for students, to enhance the safety at the Bryan Avenue and F Street intersection crosswalk.

Teen Hit By Vehicle

A 16-year-old girl sustained major injuries Monday evening, Nov. 9 when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing near the intersection of F Street and Bryan Avenue. No fault has been determined, though the 20-year-old male westbound driver from Oakdale was not found to be under the influence of alcohol.
