Council Has Marathon Meeting After Holidays

Oakdale City Council recovered from city holiday shut-downs with a heavier than usual agenda on Jan. 17. The meeting was held on a Tuesday, rather than the regular Monday, because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. It was their second meeting of the month, but the previous meeting had just one agenda item.

Future Shaky - Business Improvement District Fate Uncertain

The fate of Oakdale's Business Improvement District is still unknown after the Oakdale City Council decided to delay its decision on the BID for one month. The council spent over 45 minutes discussing the BID and hearing public comment on the question of possible wrongdoing before deciding to hold off making a decision on the issue until a future meeting. The business owners involved in the BID were asked to sign a letter of support of the organization, and council will re-visit the discussion at a future meeting.

The Oakdale Planning Commission is waiting for the adoption of a new Oakdale General Plan to make many changes, but are not sitting idle in the meantime. Scot Hicks, chair of the commission, addressed the Oakdale City Council on Jan. 17 regarding the commission's recent activities.

City Council Had Full Agenda

The Oakdale City Council had a packed agenda on Tuesday night. The previous meeting, on Jan. 3, had only one item on the agenda due to the city's limited holiday hours. The Jan. 17 meeting, however, picked up the slack with more action items than usual before the council.

OID Rules On Dry Winter Actions

There was not a ruling to bring water into the Oakdale Irrigation District canal system, but the OID Board of Directors unanimously agreed to waive all fees associated with canal conveyance and to provide ditch tender services at no cost to assist farmer to farmer water transfers at the Jan. 17 regular meeting.
