7-11 Robber Identified And Arrested

After obtaining video footage of two Friday, Oct. 4 early morning robberies, Oakdale Police were able to identify the suspect and make an arrest shortly after midnight on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Gusty Winds Prompt Health Caution

Blowing dust as a result of gusty winds has prompted local air-pollution officials to issue a health cautionary statement through Friday, Oct. 4 throughout the San Joaquin Valley. This health caution is in effect in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare and the Valley portion of Kern counties.

Expo Focuses On Growing Business

Grow Your Business Expo is slated for today, Thursday, Oct. 3 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., in Oakdale. The event is open to the community so people can see what Oakdale businesses and Chamber Members have to offer. There will be a variety of great products and services available in one location. This event is free and there will be raffle prizes and vendors on hand encouraging the community to buy locally.

OID Approves Water Sale

In a 4-1 vote on Tuesday, the Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors okayed the plan to move forward with a deal to sell water to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SF PUC), operating through the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF). The approval was for a one-year option, although, some contingencies must be met first. Director Steve Webb was the dissenting vote.

Substitute Pleads Not Guilty

Appearing with his attorney for only a few minutes, Oakdale Joint Unified School District Substitute Teacher Bryan Thies pleaded not guilty on Monday to two counts of felony lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and three misdemeanor charges of annoying or molesting a child.

Caltrans, Government Officials Celebrate Highway Projects

Caltrans and the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) will recognize significant milestones on State Route 12 (SR-12) including: completion of the $20.5 million smart corridor and operational improvements project from just east of Interstate 5 to the Rio Vista Bridge; the kick-off for the $46.7 million Bouldin Island Rehabilitation Project; and the ceremonial unveiling of a sign designating a portion of SR-12 as the Dana Cowell Memorial highway. The celebration is planned for this Friday, Sept. 27 starting at 11 a.m. at the Tower Park Marina in Lodi.
