Almond Growers Approve Continuing Market Order

In an overwhelming show of confidence in the Almond Board of California (ABC), the state's almond growers once again voted in favor of continuing the Federal Marketing Order for California Almonds. Federal Marketing Order 981 requires the continuance referendum to take place every five years.

A hit and run accident resulted in this light pole going down on North Second Avenue, reported early Monday morning, March 24. The pole came down on the awning of the Oakdale MMA building and crews responded quickly, removing the damaged pole to make way for a new one.

Irrigation Season Status Update

The Oakdale Irrigation District brought water into its canal system on Saturday, March 15 to prepare for the start of the irrigation season, as reported by OID General Manager Steve Knell at the March 18 regular meeting of the Board of Directors. The season was initially planned to start on March 3 but rains allowed for the delay. It was reported that there were no major issues and only one minor issue with tumbleweed when bringing water into the canals.
