Library Crafts Offered

Mark the calendar for the Teen/Adult Craft at the Oakdale library. Designed for ages 13 and up, the focus will be on "Gift Tag Making." Be sure your presents get to the right people in the best way possible. Use cardstock, stamps, ribbon, and more to personalize these tags in your own unique style. Join in on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 3:30 p.m. for this imaginative craft. The library will also present its first Evening Story Time and Sing-a-Long on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m.

Motorists Paying More At Regional Gas Pumps

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 4.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.44/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.21/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Pet Photos Featured With Santa At Petco

Capture the moment with your furry little four-legged love bundles this Christmas in a photo opportunity with Santa at Petco on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. For the small fee of $9.95 the Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance (OSPA) will provide a framed photo to take home that day. The OSPA will host the "Photo with Santa" event on Saturday and all proceeds will benefit the homeless pets of the Oakdale and Riverbank communities. All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier or on a leash.

Veterans First Holiday Giveaway Aids Families

Veterans First has been helping veterans throughout the community since their inception in August. Having a stress free environment or a safe haven for veterans is very important to Duke Cooper of Oakdale, himself a Marine veteran, and Coordinator of the Veterans First organization. This venture has catapulted them into some new ventures as well like the creation of a mobile museum, a coat and blanket drive, and Toys for Tots giveaway.

Oakdale High School FFA sold a record breaking 228 tickets for their recent 10th Annual Bunco Night. The event was hosted as a "Crazy Hat Party," encouraging attendees to done a cover for the dinner and game fun. Here, awarded with Best Hat honors for their unique creations were Susie Garcia, left, and Loretta Davidson. The two women were among many to embrace the "Crazy Hat Party" theme for the annual event.
