Police Fleet Due For Upgrade

With the assistance of a recently obtained $100,000 grant, the Oakdale Police Department will be purchasing a new police motorcycle and patrol car to replace vehicles in its aging fleet.

Blaze Destroys Third Avenue Home

A multi-alarm house fire on Friday, Dec. 7 required more than 25 firefighters to combat the blaze and resulted in the near total destruction of the older two-story home.

Three Arrested For Bridle Ridge Carjacking

Three suspects Oakdale Police are identifying as Norteno gang members were arrested for attempting to carjack a Ford Windstar minivan in the Bridle Ridge subdivision late Monday night on Dec. 10.

House Fire On S. Third Avenue

Oakdale Fire Department with assistance from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire out of Riverbank battled a house fire in the 200 block of South Third Avenue on Friday, Dec. 7. The fire was called in shortly after 1 p.m. and was reported in the downstairs portion of the residence. The fire spread throughout the structure. Crews on scene reported that the residents were able to escape without injury however the family dog was unaccounted for. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.

No Decision Yet For City Manager

After two-plus hours of closed session talks from a special city council meeting regarding the selection of a city manager on Friday, Dec. 7, the Oakdale City Council broke at noon to announce that no decision has been made.

Oakdale's Anderson Wins Gin Rummy Title

Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas was the place to be if you considered yourself either an avid gin rummy player or fan. The Gin Rummy Association presented The Holiday Classic Tournament from Nov. 11 through the 14 for gin rummy partners and singles and one Oakdale man walked away with top honors. Greg Anderson came home with the world title in hand.

City Plans Development Of River Parkway

The California Natural Resources Agency announced that the City of Oakdale will receive an $862,625 grant to convert more than 15 acres into a river parkway including a 750-foot trail allowing public access to the Stanislaus River from Valley View Park.

Crowd Gathers For Ford Mixer

General Manager Erich Haidlen threw a mixer earlier this month at the Haidlen Ford Dealership on East F Street in Oakdale, participating in the "Go Further With Ford Night" promotion and activities. The showroom was filled with tables and people mingling. Over 100 people stopped by throughout the evening to take part in the festivities.
