Earth Day Festival Adds March For Science Event

Come celebrate the 29th Stockton Earth Day Festival on Sunday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Victory Park behind Haggin Museum in Stockton. Admission is free for this family event. "Water is Life" is the theme of this area's premier environmental event and will focus on educating local residents in taking care of the environment, especially water resources.

Oakdale Soroptimist Club Selling See’s Easter Candy

Soroptimist International of Oakdale is selling gift wrapped See's Candy for Easter. A variety of one pound boxes ($19.75), peanut butter, chocolate butter, and Bordeaux eggs ($6.50), and Bunny Delight children's boxes ($7.50) are available at Radio Shack, 1449 E. Family Resource Center Sets Third Annual Baby Shower

On Saturday, May 6, Center for Human Services – Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will host its Third Annual Community Baby Shower. Up to 15 women can attend the event and each woman is encouraged to bring a support person for a total of 30 attendees. To register for the event, call CHS-Oakdale Family Resource Center at (209) 847-0420. Spots will be filled on a first come first served basis and each participant who registers in advance will receive a special prize.

Sun, Rain Greet Rodeo Parade Participants, Watchers

When it stepped off at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, the annual Oakdale Rodeo Parade played out under sunny skies and a cool breeze. By the time it had wound its way the length of F Street from the city's west end to the Foothill Oaks Shopping Center on the east end, skies had clouded over and raindrops started to fall.

Modesto Woman Killed In Friday Highway Crash

Just as the traffic was ramping up with an influx of visitors for the weekend Oakdale Rodeo, a late afternoon accident at the city's east end resulted in one fatality. The Friday, April 7 accident occurred about 4:45 p.m. and claimed the life of Christene Busser, 47, of Modesto, according to police.
