Tennis Team Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive

After being blanked by Manteca with identical 9-0 scores on both Tuesday and Wednesday, the Mustang boys tennis team answered with a 7-2 road win over Sierra. Taking four of six singles matches and sweeping Sierra in doubles, the Mustang boys remain in playoff contention.

Oakdale Varsity Girls Swim Away With Win

The Oakdale Aquatic Center welcomed Sierra to town on Tuesday, April 5 in a Valley Oak League showdown. Oakdale's varsity girls dominated the visitors in a lopsided 128-42 dismissal.

Lady Mustang Soccer Drops Two Of Three

The varsity girls soccer team's high-powered offense seemed to run out of gas this past week. Oakdale played three games and failed to score goals in two of them, losing 2-0 to Manteca and 2-0 to Sierra. However, the girls managed to put together a 4-2 road win over East Union in between those losses.

Rain, Mud, Wind Don’t Dampen Competition

Loyal fans from across the United States gathered under their umbrellas and EZ Ups, bundled up in ponchos and hats and made their way to the 65th annual PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo. The weekend extravaganza saw plenty of rain and mud but did not keep the excited crowd away.

Softball Squad Turns Focus To East Union

After putting away Sierra and Central Catholic, the Oakdale varsity Lady Mustangs softball team has improved to 6-0 in Valley Oak League action and 12-0 overall for the season. On Tuesday, April 12 the Lady Mustangs faced their league rival, East Union (13-0, 5-0) on the road, in a game played after The Leader went to press.

OHS Girls Basketball Coaches Offer Clinics

Coaches from all three Oakdale High School girls' basketball levels have joined together to help out the younger kids in Oakdale who are interested in improving their skills. Any girls from fourth through eighth grades are encouraged to come out to the OHS Main Gym for this free clinic. Each Monday and Wednesday from now through May 25 from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m., several of Oakdale's experienced coaches will be on hand to help improve the young girls' basketball playing skills. Varsity Baseball Team Wins First VOL Game

After a rocky start to the Valley Oak League schedule, the varsity baseball Mustangs put together seven strong and complete innings to defeat visiting East Union 5-1. Oakdale entered the game 0-3 in league play after a 3-2 road loss to East Union (5-8, 2-2) on Wednesday, April 6.

April is the month that I get most excited about when thinking about going fishing. My personal best was caught during the month of April, nearly 10 years ago. As a bass fisherman, catching a bass over 10 pounds is extremely rare. Naturally, it becomes a goal of just about every fisherman that I know.
