Sweet Success - Varsity Softball Squad Enjoys Senior Night

Monday night, May 5 had all the pregame storyline build up for an exciting evening of softball for Oakdale's varsity girls team. Oakdale welcomed Sonora High School to town for the final time in its historic rivalry. Mix that with Senior Night festivities and a possible share of the Valley Oak League title, and the Oakdale fans were ready for some softball action.

Varsity Softball Falls To EU, Kimball

It was a tough week for the Oakdale High School varsity softball team, as the Lady Mustangs dropped a pair of league matchups. On Wednesday, April 30 the team suffered a 3-0 road loss to East Union, and then fell short in another road game, this time to the Jaguars of Kimball on Friday, May 2 by a 5-1 verdict.

Lady Mustang Soccer Shines On Senior Night

Some say, "all good things must come to an end" and on Tuesday, April 29 two things did come to an end; a 90-plus years school rivalry between Oakdale and Sonora high school in Valley Oak League play, as Sonora will be relocating into the Mother Lode League at the beginning of the new school year, and for five OHS seniors, it was the final soccer game of their high school soccer careers. Lady Mustangs Hang Tough On Pitch

Oakdale varsity soccer may not be in the playoff hunt, but they were faced with a tough task of taking on the top two teams in the Valley Oak League (VOL) on the road during spring break. The team traveled to Manteca to take on the Lancers of East Union on Tuesday, April 22, and then returned to Manteca on Thursday, April 24 to play the Lady Buffaloes.

Oakdale Varsity Softball Makes Short Work Of Lathrop

Things started off slowly for the Lady Mustangs on Wednesday, April 23 as the team didn't rap out its first hit until Emily Greenwood's single that sparked an eight-run third inning, and the Mustangs would go on to shut out the Spartans 11-0 in five innings.

Lady Mustangs Erupt For 11 Goals In Victory

April 15 is "Tax Day" and the Lady Mustangs' varsity soccer team made Weston Ranch pay up Tuesday night. Oakdale scored a season-high 11 goals in the shutout win over the Cougars.

Baseball Postseason In Jeopardy After Loss To Sierra

After a promising start for first year manager Nathan Gregory and the Oakdale varsity baseball Mustangs, the team has fallen on hard times as of late. After being swept by Manteca the previous week (Oakdale was outscored 10-0 during the two-game series), Oakdale bounced back with a non-league 5-1 victory over Tokay on Friday, April 11 and managed a 5-4 victory over Sierra in Manteca on Tuesday, April 15. Oakdale Varsity Boys Swept By Manteca

It was as close to a playoff atmosphere as a game in April can be, as the varsity Mustangs approached the midway point to a promising baseball season. Approximately 150 fans made their way to the ballpark to watch the Mustangs host the Buffaloes of Manteca this past week. The battle included two of the Valley Oak League's premier pitchers as Oakdale's Bryce Dyrda, who signed with USC, took on Manteca's lefty, Jacob Corn, who signed to a fellow PAC12 school, Oregon. Golfers Corral Spartans, Jaguars In VOL Play

Spring has officially sprung and the weather was perfect for a round of nine hole golf action at Oakdale's Golf and Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, April 8. Oakdale High School golfers welcomed Lathrop to town for a Valley Oak League match. The Mustangs found their stroke as they defeated Lathrop with a score of 248-289.

Varsity Baseball - Mustangs Blank Visiting Weston Ranch

The Mustangs varsity baseball team is off to a white hot start to the season and it continued to show on Wednesday, April 2 when the team shut out Weston Ranch 11-0 in front of the Oakdale faithful. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 but it was postponed to severe weather.

Oakdale Golf Splits Pair Of VOL Matches

The Mustangs golf team was on the road for a pair of Valley Oak League (VOL) matches this past week. They played Tuesday, April 1 against Manteca and Thursday, April 3 against Sierra, with both matches held at Manteca Park Golf Course. Oakdale walked away with a 242-257 victory against Manteca and just fell short 230-244 against Sierra.

Dyrda, Mustangs Sweep East Union

The Mustangs faced East Union twice this past week. On Tuesday, March 25 the boys packed up and headed to Manteca to face the Lancers in Valley Oak League action, then returned home to face the Lancers again in front of the Mustang faithful on Thursday, March 27. The Mustangs were impressive in the sweep, winning 13-0 and 11-1.
