The wrestling season is underway and for Oakdale the expectations are running high. Oakdale has always been a powerhouse program and has been the class of the Valley Oak League for over a decade. This past Saturday, Oakdale competed at the Valley Junior Varsity Tournament. When it was all over with, Oakdale had four champions, four second place finishers and seven third place finishers on the day.
For the first time in Oakdale High School history, the cross country program had a representative compete in the CIF State Cross Country Championships. What made this feat even more impressive was that a freshman was the one to make the historic run. Freshman Karina Prado competed on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Woodward Park in Fresno against 204 of the best long distance runners in the entire state.
I've been amazed lately on what I've seen in terms of anglers filming themselves while out fishing. I personally have a GoPro which is great, but can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. I also get a little paranoid that it's either going to get lost or stolen since it's small and was pretty expensive. The quality of footage is amazing though. For over 20 years, Big Time Wrestling has entertained Bay Area crowds. On Saturday night, Dec. 3 Big Time Wrestling invades Livingston at Livingston High School. The respectable independent wrestling show will bring their roster to the area for 'Holiday Havok.'

The Oakdale Swim Masters will be hosting a swim fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Oakdale High School. The event will be a cancer awareness fundraiser at the Aquatic Center. It will be associated with the Fattal Foundation to help current patients and their families. There will be over 30 adults and youth swimmers participating throughout the day. The event is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
For the third time in seven years, the Oakdale Stampede earned the title "Super Bowl Champions." This past Saturday the team knocked off Manteca 44-24 in the CenCal 2016 Super Bowl at Golden Valley High School in Merced.
The top seeded Oakdale Mustangs survived an early 16-7 first quarter deficit, falling behind early against eighth seeded Vista del Lago 63-35 on Friday night. But once they got on track, nothing could slow down Oakdale, as they took a 63-35 victory off the field. The Mustangs hosted the Eagles in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs at The Corral.

It was the first season the girls were placed in D-I for the playoffs and they battled to an outstanding second place finish.
Take a short ride out to the OHS softball fields in the evening, and chances are you'll see a gaggle of young girls running bases, perfecting their batting, and practicing the fundamentals of the game of softball. Youth girls from Oakdale and surrounding communities have been playing for the Oakdale Heat, a travel softball team based out of Oakdale.
