Warrior Athletics Crab Feed

Come enjoy the all-you-can-eat crab, salad, pasta and bread, which will be served on Saturday, March 10 at the Stanislaus State Warriors crab feed. Proceeds benefit Warrior Athletics Scholarship Fund. The dinner will be held at Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena, Stanislaus State, Turlock. First Tee Open House

The First Tee of Central Valley has announced its 2018 Program Schedule. Clinics offering Life Skill and golf instruction for youth ages 6-17 are set to begin on Monday, March 19 at eight golf facilities in four counties. Lessons will focus on the fundamentals of golf as well as The First Tee Healthy Habits and Nine Core Values. The community is invited to an Open House at Modesto Muni golf course on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 am to noon. Wrestling Mustangs Place Eighth At Gilroy

This past weekend the 2018 Mid-Cal in Gilroy took place. The big two-day wrestling event featured top wrestling talent from across the state, including a handful of Oakdale Mustangs who placed in the top eight of their weight classes. As a team Oakdale placed eighth overall scoring 128.5 team points. Poway finished in first place scoring 360.5 points.

Fishing Report

Many say that boat stands for "break out another thousand!" For a lot of boat owners, the new year means it's time for an annual service and the beginning of a new insurance term. With six games remaining in the Valley Oak League campaign, the Oakdale Mustang varsity soccer boys (7-7-4, 4-2-2) are currently in fourth place in the standings. This past week, Oakdale played host to Central Catholic and Manteca. In their two games, Oakdale went 1-1.

Bobcat Image Named Annual Wildlife Photo Contest Winner

Santa Clara resident Shravan Sundaram's photograph of a young bobcat descending a tree in Livermore's Sycamore Grove Park earned the 2017 grand prize in the California Wildlife Photo of the Year contest. The intense gaze of the cat as it stared into the camera's lens elevated it in the yearlong contest presented by California Watchable Wildlife and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's magazine, Outdoor California and sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy and Alpine Optics.

The Oakdale varsity boys basketball team earned its second Valley Oak League win of the season on Jan. 26.

Lady Mustangs

The Oakdale High School varsity girls soccer team had a pair of road games this past week. Both of the Valley Oak League games ended in a tie. On Tuesday, Jan. 16, Oakdale (6-5-2, 2-3-2) headed to Tracy to face Kimball (3-12-2, 2-3-1) and tied 2-2. Each team scored one goal in each half. Freshman Hannah Guthrie scored both goals for Oakdale and the goals were assisted by Krissy Lolonis and Brianna Montoya. Oakdale led 2-1 late but Kimball tied the game in the final minute.

Wrestlers Pin Down Raiders

In Valley Oak League action on Wednesday, Jan. 17 the Oakdale Mustangs wrestlers defeated Central Catholic 44-6. The defending 11-time Valley Oak League champions made short work of the Raiders on the road and quickly turned their focus to Saturday's Hatler Memorial in Sonora.

Mustang Soccer Boys Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

Currently in fourth place of the Valley Oak League, the Oakdale High School varsity boys soccer team earned a 2-0 home win over Kimball this past week. Oakdale (6-6-4, 3-1-2) defeated the visiting Jags (2-8-1, 1-4-1) on Wednesday, Jan. 17 behind great defense. Goal keeper Philip Knieriere had three saves. On the offensive side it was Esteban Garcia scoring a goal in the first half and Miguel Casillas scored the team's final goal in the second half. Eric Anaya and Juan Mata each had an assist.
